What should I expect from Housekeeping?

Everyone in the house contributes $50 a month to Housekeeping service that contributes to taking care of the common areas of the house. They do not go into bedrooms.  See also How often will my location be cleaned.

When taking care of a household, cleanings are broken into two categories:

Immediate (household responsibilities)- Common household items to be done same day:

  • Cleaning dishes, running dishwasher, emptying dish racks and dishwasher of clean dishes
  • Emptying trash
  • Cleaning food debris and crumbs from counters
  • Picking up or cleaning anything in the house so that it doesn’t become someone else’s problem or responsibility

Long Term (Housekeeper’s responsibilities)- Deep clean items requiring less frequent attention:

  • Bathroom cleanings (sinks, mirror, toilets, showers/tubs, etc.)
  • Sweeping/mopping floors
  • High and low dusting (ceiling fans and baseboards)
  • Deep clean of pantries and cabinets

At every visit, Housekeeping will leave a checklist of items (below) completed so the house knows what has been completed.

Additionally they will re supply fundamental items:

  • 1 roll of toilet paper for common bathrooms
  • 1 roll of paper towels for the kitchen
  • Refill liquid dishwashing (sink) soap
  • Replace 2 kitchen towels
