What Is Coliving University?

Welcome to CoLiving U!

We’re excited to welcome you to CoLiving U—a short, thoughtfully curated video series designed to help you thrive in a shared living environment.

Co-living is a unique experience that brings together people from different backgrounds and lifestyles under one roof. It’s more than just renting a room—it’s about being part of a community that values respect, cooperation, and shared responsibility. At its best, co-living can offer meaningful friendships, support systems, and a real sense of belonging. But like any shared space, it also comes with its own set of challenges.

That’s where CoLiving U comes in.

We created CoLiving U to proactively address the most common points of friction that naturally arise in a shared home—things like kitchen etiquette, bathroom sharing, noise levels, guest policies, and conflict resolution. These are all normal parts of communal living, and they’re much easier to navigate when we have a shared understanding and clear expectations.

What is CoLiving U?
CoLiving U is a series of 10 short, engaging videos that walk through everyday co-living scenarios. In each one, we highlight common situations where tensions might arise—and show how applying a few simple principles can help keep the peace and strengthen your connection with your housemates. It’s not about rules for the sake of rules—it’s about learning how to be a considerate and communicative cohabitant.

Why is it important?
Because the real magic of co-living happens when everyone contributes to a positive, respectful environment. It’s easy to let the little things slide—leaving dishes in the sink, playing music too loudly, or forgetting to communicate a guest visit. And while none of those things are malicious, they can add up and create tension if left unaddressed. CoLiving U exists to give everyone the tools to be proactive, not reactive—and to help build a culture of awareness, empathy, and accountability.

You’ve already reviewed the house rules as part of your lease. At their core, these rules are rooted in three key ideas:

Rule #1: Be a good friend. If you want to live in a kind, respectful environment, lead by example.

Rule #2: Expect conflict to happen. Even in great communities, occasional friction is normal.

Rule #3: When conflict happens, engage the other person directly. A respectful conversation can solve most problems before they grow.

CoLiving U helps bring these principles to life—not just by telling you what to do, but showing you how to do it, in a way that’s authentic and constructive.

So whether you’re new to co-living or just need a refresher, CoLiving U is here to set you—and your housemates—up for success.
